London / London

I spent more than 10 days in London, but was, for most of the time, cooped up in meeting rooms. Thus, I missed the beautiful weather that London (and the whole of the UK!) experienced those days. Nevertheless, I found some time for a walk along the river Thames one afternoon.

The hotel I stayed in was located at the South Bank, close to the re-build Globe Theather.

Walk across the Millennium Bridge, and you’ll find St Paul’s Cathedral.

Etwas naeher

A bit closer

Following the pedestrian paths of the South Bank, I came across this ruin – Winchester Court. It stands right next to fairly new appartment blocks

A bit farther along, just before London Bridge, I found this sign:

Es wird viel gebaut in London.

There is a lot of building activity going on in London.

And as a result, one can find quite a few contrasts along the river bank.

Butler’s Wharf

More London Riverside (ja, das heisst wirklich so – yes, that’s really called that)

Ueber die Tower Bridge, das Ingenieurswunderwerk

Across Tower Bridge, the engineering marvel

Tower of London – castle and jail of kings, and the place where the crown jewels are kept

Loewen halten Wache

Lions keeping guard at the Tower

And a final look over the river in the evening
