Der Herbst… / Autumn…

…. ist ueberraschend schnell ueber uns hereingefallen. Die Wolken haengen auf dem Boden, und das Wetter ist sehr ungemuetlich.

… has arrived rather unexpectedly. The sky is touching the ground, and the weather is rather unpleasant.

Die Sturmboen am Montag haben nicht nur die ersten Blaetter von den Baeumen gefegt, es brauch auch ein Ast unseres Quittenbaumes. Zum Glueck sind die Quitten schon erntereif, und haben trotz des nicht so guten Sommers (oder gerade deswegen?) eine ziemliche Groesse erreicht. Mal sehen, zu was wir unsere Quitten verarbeiten – aus der ersten Ladung wurde Quittenbrot.

The gusts on Monday have not only blown the first leaves from the trees, they also broke of one of the branches of our quince tree. Luckily, the quinces are ready for harvest, and have despite (or maybe because of) the not-so-great summer, reached a considerable size. We’ll have to see what to do with them – the first batch was turned into dried quinces.

Aepfel haben wir nur sehr wenige (man kann sie an einer Hand abzaehlen!), aber auch diese sind recht gross geraten.

We only have few apples (you can count them on the fingers of one hand), but they’ve also grown rather big.

Und wie es zum Wetter passt, habe ich jetzt Socken auf den Nadeln. Dieses Paar ist mir auf der Rueckreise von Montreal von den Nadeln gehuepft,

dieses hier ist mein “Pendler-Projek”, es wird auf dem Weg hin- und zurueck zur Arbeit gestrickt,

und dieses Paar (Crazy For Lacy Socks) stellt meine Abendbeschaeftigung dar. Allerdings ist das wohl ein Fall von”Garnfaerbung schluckt Muster”.

and this pair (Crazy For Lacy Socks) is my evening knitting. However, the colouring of the yarn rather overpowers the lace pattern.

Jetzt muss ich nur eine Anleitung fuer eine ganz einfache Herrenstrickjacke finden* – das Garn habe ich mir schon ausgeguckt. Das ganze soll ein Geburtstagsgeschenk werden, und sollte bis Ende Oktober fertig sein.

Now I just need to find* a pattern for a very simple mens’ cardigan. I know which yarn I would like to use. The whole thing is supposed to be a birthday present, and should be done by the end of the month.

* Eigentlich habe ich ja schon zwei auf Ravelry gefunden (diese und diese), aber irgendwie kann ich die dazu passenden Anleitungshefte nicht finden.
