Was habt Ihr denn so als absolutes  NO GO in Sachen Maschenwerk?

Today, Wollschaf is asking us about our dislikes:

Although knitters are in general a quite tolerant bunch, they might nevertheless utter the sentence “THAT does not do at all…”
What are your absolute No-Nos in terms of needle work?
Do you have an aversion against knitting / crocheting of curtains, or the (in)famous toilet roll cover?
Would you NEVER be crazy enough to knit socks?
Has anything changed in your preferences and aversions?

Thanks to  Daniela for today’s question!

I am usually rather open-minded, and people can knit or crochet what they like and what pleases them. There are, however, a few thing that I would NEVER EVER knit or crochet.

Total NO-NOs for myself are crocheted covers of any kind – be it for toilet rolls, kleenex boxes or toilet covers and cisterns (back in the mid-1990s, I saw really scary versions of those on a camp site in Clanwilliam).

Although I quite like the Amigurumi (crochet or knit), I would never make them myself. I have knit a few egg cozies, and my family has asked for more. I have to research Amigurumis a bit further, as they would like to have a whole zoo sitting on eggs…

In knitting, anything that is knit with needles bigger than 5mm is a No-No for myself (unless it is something that is felted afterwards), as well as everything that is knit from yarns with colour repeats / colour gradients in garter stitch. And all “plastic” yarns!

I think pretty much anything that will collect dust is a nono for me such as toilet paper covers and the like. I don’t crochet but as a kid I was forced to crochet in school (all girls school with some nuns) but didn’t feel like it, so asked the mom of the kids I used to babysit for (I was only like 11 or so myself) if she could crochet whatever I had to make for me. Obviously she was fantastic at it and when I took it to school for grading the nun accused me of lying. Well, I stuck to my story and even told her she could call my mom to verify. Don’t recall what grade I ended up getting, but the nun never called my mom. I think since then I have a dislike for crocheting.
